Croissants are one of those pastries that just get me every time. Frequenting the bakery and indulging in a croissant is almost an automatic reflex for me.
Enter Bjornbar Bakery.
With two locations in North Vancouver and Burquitlam, Bjornbar is cranking out some seriously levelled up croissants. I mean just look at these layers of butter and crispiness!
Overall – ★★★★☆
One of the things that I loved about this place was the aesthetics. They had a number of different indoor seating options for patrons to enjoy their pastries and coffee. With arm chairs, couches, and the classic table seating – I can see this being a great place that you might want to catch up with old friends over coffee or a must-try destination if you’re doing some serious studying. With both a patio area and spacious seating on the interior, it feels to be a good fit for all demographics.
Baked Good Selection – ★★★★☆
From bars to sandwiches to muffins to cruffins (the buttery, crispy cousin to the muffin), this little bakery covers just about everything you could want when it comes to something to eat with your coffee. With the glass display of all their offerings taking a prominent role in the design, guests are immediately enticed by the aroma of coffee and baked goods as they enter.
Ambiance – ★★★★☆
As mentioned earlier, the ambiance included friendly service at the counter, and an interesting layout of armchairs, couches, with the typical table and aesthetic-but-slightly-uncomfortable chair combinations. The room did feel a little bit on the dark side, but not in a way that would impede a person from reading or seeing clearly in the room. I loved the overall feel and could see this being a really great spot for catching up with a friend or people-watching-with-a-book.
Conclusion
If you find yourself in need of excellently executed pastries and baked goods, or a hankering for a delicious cup of espresso – Bjornbar might be the place for you. With a quality selection of baked items, you’re bound to find something that you not only enjoy but want to come back for. Again, I can’t stress enough how delicious their croissants are. So make sure to try them out!
